Abas - Crowdfunding project

Abas arrived in 2014 in Belgium with a student visa. He has been studying at Louvain-la-Neuve and got his Master in Insurance. After finishing his studies, he tried to find a job but he didn’t. Therefore he preferred to return home in December 2019, where he would be useful, rather than « spinning around in Belgium in irregularity». He received reintegration assistance amounting 1700€ as well as an additional assistance amounting 2000€, six months after his return in Niamey.

After his return, Abas was very motivated to start his activity and set up his own crowdfunding project on management, counselling and investing. With the help of the reintegration support, he started renting an office to host the activities. The digital crowdfunding company aims at mobilizing financial resources of Nigerians looking for investment opportunities, no matter if they are located in Niger, or abroad. The company also provides counselling in crowdfunding as well as management services for the investments. The project has been set up by Abas, who is supported in the first phase by consultants. One staff has been recruited at a later stage.

Thanks to the additional 2000€ assistance, Abas was able to buy a projector, he bought material to refurbish the office (painting, wooden walls, carpet) and he purchased a small motorbike to ease the travels of the staff to the customers. The implementation of this second assistance is currently ongoing despite the situation with the pandemic.
